What Verified means

Exactly what we check, and what we do not. Read it before you rely on it.

What we check

Before a vendor gets the badge, a person at RentEvent checks three things.

  • The business is real. We check the legal business name and its registration or EIN against the state it says it is registered in.
  • They carry liability insurance. We read the certificate, check the policy is current, and record the date it expires.
  • They hold any licence their work needs. For alcohol service, food handling, transport and security, we check the licence number and its expiry.

Every vendor who can take a booking on RentEvent, badge or not, has also been through identity checks with Stripe, our payment processor, before they are allowed to receive money.

What it does not mean

The badge is about paperwork, not performance. It is not a review, a rating, or a promise about quality.

  • It does not mean RentEvent has seen their work or met them.
  • It does not mean they will do a good job, turn up on time, or be easy to deal with.
  • It does not make RentEvent responsible for their work. Vendors are independent businesses.
  • It does not replace your own judgement. Read their reviews and talk to them.

It runs out

The badge expires on the day the vendor's insurance does, automatically, with nobody having to remember. If their policy lapses, the badge is gone that morning until they send us the new certificate.

We also remove it at any time if we find something is wrong, if a vendor stops meeting the standard, or if they repeatedly cancel confirmed bookings.

Your documents

Vendors upload their certificate inside their account. It can be opened by that vendor and by RentEvent staff, and by nobody else. It is never shown to customers.

What a customer sees is only the badge itself: a business name and the date the badge runs out. Your policy number, tax number and address are never part of that.

Something not right?

If a verified vendor is not what the badge says they are, tell us. We would rather take a badge off than leave a wrong one up.
